How to Create Space For Your Swing Set

Knowing how to create space for your swing set diminishes the possibility of injury by preventing children from swinging into objects or each other. It is not uncommon to see swing sets in backyards. The types of swing sets range from tire swings in trees to complex swing sets with slides. Swing sets are supposed to provide children with hours of fun, but if they are not properly set up, they are dangerous.
First: Provide adequate space between swings
Use a tape measure and measure from the top bar of the swing where the rope of the swing is attached. Measure at least 8 inches across; this is the adequate amount of spacing between swings. Continue to measure 8 inches across until all of the swings that move forward are placed. Keep swings a minimum of 8 inches from the poles.
Second: Place tire swings 24 inches apart
Place the tape measure at the tire or center of the disc swing. Measure an area from this point outward that is at least 24 inches. Do not place the swing any closer to the poles or other swings.
Third: Measure the swing and side bars for placement of lawn swings
For any lawn swings that have one child on each side, put a tape measure in the center of the seat and measure upward 28 inches. Hold one of the swing side bars and measure 12 inches out. For proper space of the actual swing, measure from the top bar to the round and multiply this number by two. This is the distance you should place the swing set from anything else.
